Debrett's Etiquette and Modern Manners First Edition 1981This is a first edition, hardback, published in 1981 of Debrett's Etiquette and Modern Manners. It is edited by Elsie Burch Donald and a foreword by Sir Iain Moncreiffe. The book itself is in excellent condition. Since the reign of George III ''Debrett's Peerage'' has been the last word on British titles and protocol. This etiquette book tempers old-style formalities and formulas with up-to-date practical advice about single motherhood, unmarried couples, drugs at parties, do-it-yourself dinners and the like. Sex, religion and politics, talk of which was formerly muted in polite and mixed society, are now given their due as ''the greatest subjects for conversation that have ever existed.'
